Opening Ceremony of Glenville NS

May 19, 2016 Comments off

On Friday 15th April we celebrated our Official opening of our new school. Thankfully the weather remained dry and there was a fantastic turnout from the local community both young and old to help us celebrate this momentous occasion! The whole school was involved in the preparation and as always the children of Glenville NS rose to the occasion from the Guard of Honour to the very talented performance on stage by the older children.
The plaques were unveiled by Past Principal Mr. Batt Dunlea, Parish Priest Fr. Cotter and Parent’s Association member Gillian Crowe. The tree was planted by former Parish Priest Fr. Cashman and Principal Michael O’Donnell and the ribbon was cut by Oliver Manley.

Tomorrow is a momentous day for all the staff and children in Glenville NS. We are eagerly waiting for the Official Opening of our fantastic new school! There has been a buzz of activity both inside and outside the school all week with cleaning, decorating, moving furniture and music practice. As always every single person in our little school community got involved and stuck in!

We are very proud of our new school and Community hall and still cannot believe we are finally in it after all the years of hopes and disappointment.

This is a big day for Glenville NS and also the local community who were so supportive during its construction. We extend a warm welcome to each and everyone in the Glenville Community to join us a 12pm tomorrow, April 15th 2016 to officially open “Scoil Mhuire” and celebrate this very historic day!

New School update

November 23, 2014 Comments off

It may not be very visible from the front of the school but the builders are certainly continuing to make great progress despite the wet weather!.. Many parents were very pleasantly surprised to see this when they were in for meetings last week.

Sod Turning Ceremony for New School

October 14, 2014 Comments off

July 28th 2014 was an historic day for Glenville NS as we turned the sod for our much awaited new school! The site was blessed by Fr Donal Cotter, Parish Priest and Reverend Eileen Cremin, the Church of Ireland Pastor.

There was great excitement in mid-september when the builders moved in and each morning we all look forward to seeing the progress that is being made. Both staff and children have had to make allowances for tighter play space but the mild weather and seeing the rapid progress of the building to date makes it much more tolerable and there is an air of eager anticipation for our long-overdue new school in Glenville NS!
