Sciath na Scol Football Final 2016

February 15, 2017 Comments off

Well done to our boys’ teams on their successful Sciath na Scol campaign.
It’s always a brilliant occasion in the school with the mascots and childen in their Glenville colours, and this year our mascots – Rachel Lynch and Lucy Ryan – were outstanding. There was great support in Páirc Uí Rinn too, with many parents arriving to support the team.
And how they did us proud!
The boys won in great style, showing teamwork and class.
Great credit is due to all involved, and particularly to those teachers who give of their time and talents to coach these teams. Well done to Mairead O’ Callaghan and Sarah Clynch who trained the winning boys team and also to Mary Donovan and Ber O’Callaghan who trained the girls team who reached the semi-final of the competition.Well done to all our players. Glenville Abú.

Sciath na Scol Hurling Final 2014

June 2, 2014 Comments off

On Wednesday the 28th of May the boys of Glenville N.S. played the Sciath na Scol hurling final against Castlemartyr in Pairc Ui Chaiomh. This very skillful team was Captained by Dylan Power and Vice Captain Ciaran O’Leary. It was a very tight match and nerve-wrecking for players and spectators. Every time Castlemartyr scored, Glenville equalized. The full time whistle blew and both teams went five minutes extra time and still both teams were drawing after scoring a goal each in that five minutes and therefore the match went to another five minutes however, unluckily it was not Glenville’s day as Castlemartyr finally won by a point.

Well done to all the players from fourth, fifth and sixth classes who all trained very hard throughout the season which led us to Pairc Ui Chaiomh to a very exciting and unforgettable final.
By Dylan Power and Gavin Gowen.
