A very welcome visitor at Assembly!

June 15, 2014 Comments off

On Tuesday 10th May we had a special assembly as a parent of some of our children arrived with a special surprise!.. Eoin Haberlin presented the school with a cheque for €1,600. This was a result of the very successful charity cycle he organized on Easter Saturday. This money will be put towards the cost of our new hall.

Over the Hill

January 28, 2013 Comments off

The Watergrasshill cyclists competed in a race around Ireland and did Watergrasshill and Glenville proud by finishing in a great second place. It was a brilliant achievement by the club formed in 2011 .The team who beat OVER THE HILL was from the UK. They were called STRATEGIC LIONS and were ex-professional cyclists.  The cyclists competing for Watergrasshill were Des Ryan, Mick O’ Leary, Donal Scannell and Brendan Coakley, who put in a huge amount of hours training for this big race. They started in Meath on the ninth of September 2012 and cycled at an average speed of 28.1 km per hour and ended in Navan on the fifteenth of September 2012. They spent 78 hours and 16 mins [3 days 6 hours and 16 mins] cycling. They took turns cycling in the race. Two were racing at a time while the other two tried to get some sleep in the camper van driven by Pat O Callaghan, Emmet Fennell, Denis Dineen and John Moran. They changed racer every six hours. The OVER THE HILL team were managed by Aidan O Brien. While racing the team raised a considerable amount of money for their chosen charity called MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY IRELAND. Some of the organisers considered it to be one of the toughest races in the WORLD.
